HOMER NARR2-PD/Ref@5463
They did survive, all of them. They
always survive. And they found that they
did not need to discuss the experience
among themselves, for as soon as someone
began a sentence, another finished it,
and so conversation was without meaning.
They walked about for days in wonderment
at their new bodies, and in surprise
that they did not feel they were
different people for all the changes in
their appearance. When Larin, walking
down the hall, ran into Thatcher's
little boy Tithus, he greeted her
solemnly and without reserve. Did she
detect a change in his attitude? Surely
she did, for she was now, like all the
rest of them, an Ant under the skin, and
could never return to her past.
So they no longer had to fear for their
project or for themselves.
